Wind Symphony

Music 176/376/576 (Fall and Spring Semesters)

11:00am to 11:50am on Mondays and Wednesdays, and selected Thursday evenings 5:30 to 7pm
Harold Warman, Director

The Wind Symphony is an outstanding ensemble which performs some of the finest, most challenging and rewarding literature available. An average semester for this group includes two or more formal concerts on campus, one to two off-campus performances, and each spring semester the ensemble goes on a five day concert and clinic tour. Although this group is comprised largely of music majors, membership in the Wind Symphony is open to any competent and motivated wind or percussion player; current SDSU student or not. Membership in the group requires an audition, consisting of a two- to three-minute prepared piece (anything that will show off your ability) and sight reading element. Auditions are conducted by Director of Bands Harold Warman, and may include other Music Department faculty members. Non-SDSU students will be required to enroll in the one-unit course through the College of Extended Studies - Open University program, for a fee of $135 per semester. Primary auditions are by appointment and final auditions are held the first week of the semester. Check the schedule for the next audition date, time, and information. Continuing students must register for the class prior to final audition time.

The Wind Symphony meets from 11:00 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, and selected Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 7 p.m. (see schedule page for details)
